Dignitas (DIG) v.s. Team Liquid (TL) (4:30 PM EST) (-518 TL)

DIG will be looking to improve from being second to last in their championship run last season but will be facing a TL squad that was within the top three. DIG had the second worst mid-lane in the league at the end of the last season so this more than likely will be what TL takes advantage of first. Bjergsen will be debuting for TL at the mid-lane position. Fortunately, for TL Bjergsen last finished with a 5.29 KDA so if he performs anywhere near that TL should be in good shape in the mid-lane. DIG was also one of the lowest team-slaying teams last season and with minimal momentum in the beginning of games. Therefore, this may end up being a grind for them to win, especially where the biggest flaw may get dominated.

Counter Logic Gaming (CLG) v.s. Immortals (IMT) (5:30 PM EST) (-238 IMT)

CLG will be making their debut against an IMT squad that was near the bottom half of the standings during Champs last season but finished barely neutral (4-3). What may help IMT though if they continue off their performance last season is the fact they were the second most efficient team in slaying (1.25 KD overall). Destiny had the highest kill-participation at 69.1% for IMT and a 5.6 KDA as a support player which can help drastically as he helps his teammates against a newly formed CLG squad. Luger of CLG is the only player on his team that is slaying within that range so there is a chance he can disrupt Destiny’s success especially as the attack-damage-carry for CLG. However, even though that may be the case the CLG may need more time to build chemistry which may cause them to lose but if they do down to the wire.

Evil Genises (EG) v.s. Team Liquid (TL) (6:30 PM EST) (-150 TL)

With TL more than likely to have an easier matchup to start the slate this match may become a little more difficult against an EG team that was middle of the pack with a 5-7 record last season. Fortunately, for TL they’d still have a slaying advantaged based off of last season (1.12 team overall KD) compared to EG’s 0.80. The middle-lane was also EG’s biggest flaw so this sets up Bjergsen to have another good performance as well. That being said if EG enters this match with that type of slaying they’ll be in for a long match.

Dignitas (DIG) v.s. Immortals (IMT) (7:30 PM EST) (-185 IMT)

DIG is also another team in for a long day after playing a potential top team in TL again to now facing a less efficient team in IMT. The problem is that IMT finished better last season in slaying than DIG with a team overall K/D of 1.24 compared to their 0.47. Their first blood-rate of 71% for IMT is also a large gap compared to DIG’s 29%. Therefore, DIG may find themselves in a hole early yet again with PowerOfEvil most likely looking to take advantage of their mid-lane woes from last season.

Counter Logic Gaming v.s. Evil Geniuses (8:30 PM EST) (-308 EG)

If CLG were to beat IMT that would be surprising, but they will have a somewhat easier matchup against EG for their second game. Danny of EG can potentially slow down Luger in the bot-lane if he performs similar to his 6.52 KDA last season. This may cause the match to go down to the wire once again for CLG since Luger most likely will be their most relied upon slayer. What does help EG though is their higher first-tower rate from last season (second-most) which gives them a chance objectively. All in all, this match will come down to which bot-laner prevails and EG have the slight edge in that regard so they may end up rebounding from their potentially tougher match earlier.
