The NBA Rundown – FanDuel & DraftKings NBA DFS Picks – December 31, 2021 (12/31/21) – FantasyCruncher.com DFS Articles & Insights – fantasycruncher.com

Please note that players on DraftKings and FanDuel have multi-position eligibility and may not always match their position between each other. In this article, we will be breaking down some of our favorite plays on the slate at their positions. Remember to keep your eye on the news as the day progresses, as NBA news frequently changes the slate.

Point Guard

Damian Lillard ($10,900 DK, $9,100 FD)

Damian Lillard POR 28 12 16 36.6 24.2 82.4 6.8 13.3

Lillard has looked pretty good since returning from an abdominal injury; He’s playing 37.8 minutes per game in his last five starts and averaging 34.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.8 assists. Tonight’s matchup against the Lakers should be a fantasy-friendly affair, and we can confidently target players from both sides. The Lakers currently rank 1st in Pace and 12th in Defensive Rating, while the Blazers rank 19th in Pace and 29th in Defensive Rating. We have multiple high-priced options at the point guard position tonight, but I prefer going with Lillard and betting on a ceiling performance in this spot.

Shooting Guard

Tyler Herro ($7,200 DK, $6,700 FD)

Tyler Herro MIA 29 18 11 32.1 20.6 64.4 9.4 7.7

The Heat have weathered the storm regarding the health and safety protocols; they are an impressive 8-2 in their last ten games and 4th overall in the Eastern Conference standings with a 22-13 record. Jimmy Butler is currently questionable to play with a right ankle injury, and it’ll be essential to monitor that news as we get closer to lock. If Butler doesn’t suit up, the Heat will rely more on Herro to create offense. In his last game, Herro dropped 32 points on 9 of 19 shooting and 5 of 7 from the 3 point line; It’s worth noting that Jimmy Butler did play in the majority of that game and didn’t go to the bench with injury until 1:03 minute mark of the 4th quarter, so even if Butler does suit up, Herro is still a viable play especially against this league-worst Rockets team.

Caleb Martin ($4,300 DK, $5,800 FD)

PLAYER TEAM GP W L MIN PTS TOUCHES REB CHANCES POTENTIAL AST
Caleb Martin MIA 25 15 10 20.3 8 23.6 6.6 1.8

Martin returned from health and safety protocols last Sunday, which is good news because the Heat need bodies on the floor. Since returning, he’s played 29 minutes in each game and taken around ten shots. We’ve seen Martin flash big upside already this season, and I like his chances at another ceiling performance tonight against the Rockets. They rank 25th in fantasy points allowed to the SG position.

Small Forward

Nassir Little ($5,400 DK, $6,300 FD)

PLAYER TEAM GP W L MIN PTS TOUCHES REB CHANCES POTENTIAL AST
Nassir Little POR 29 12 17 24 8.7 30.4 9.2 2.4

In the three games before his ankle injury, Little played well and averaged 11.6 points, nine rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 3.9 stocks. He’s currently probable to play tonight against the Lakers, and I think he’s in a great position to get back on track.

Power Forward

Keldon Johnson ($5,900 DK, $6,400 FD)

PLAYER TEAM GP W L MIN PTS TOUCHES REB CHANCES POTENTIAL AST
Keldon Johnson SAS 32 13 19 30.7 15.3 48 11 3.4

Keldon Johnson has been amazingly consistent and a stabilizing force for this Spurs team. Over his last eight games, he’s averaging 20.6 points, five rebounds, and 1.4 assists. The Spurs travel to Memphis tonight to take on a shell of the Grizzlies team with 12 players on the injury report. In 198 minutes with Dejounte Murray off the floor, Johnson averages .96 fantasy points per minute.

Center

Omer Yurtseven ($5,800 DK, $6,100 FD)

PLAYER TEAM GP W L MIN PTS TOUCHES REB CHANCES POTENTIAL AST
Omer Yurtseven MIA 26 17 9 11.4 4.4 16 7.3 1.3

Omer Yurtseven has taken full advantage of the opportunity opened up by Bam and Dedmond’s absence; he’s averaging 8.8 points, 13 rebounds, and 1.6 stocks over his last six games. Houston has the worst Defensive Rating in the NBA and currently plays at the league’s 4th fastest Pace, and the Rockets rank 26th in fantasy points allowed to the center position. All signs are pointing to a prime spot for Yurt to continue his recent string of success, and I’ll be loading upon him in this spot.
