Have you ever wanted to explore Minecraft Disney World? Well, now you can. An official Minecraft Magic Kingdom game is on the way, and it’s launching later today, although we don’t have too many details about it just yet.
What do we know about this Minecraft Magic Kingdom game?
News of the Minecraft Magic Kingdom game was unveiled at the IAAPA Expo, via Disney enthusiast Matt Dobrovolsky on Twitter. Disney Parks chairman Josh D’Amaro revealed the existence of the game with a little gameplay footage and a look at the key art. The title looks to be the somewhat unwieldy Minecraft Walt Disney World: Magic Kingdom, or some variation thereof. Take a look at the first images of the Minecraft Magic Kingdom game.
And here’s a look at the key art, which shows the title of the collaboration and some cute Minecraft versions of Disney characters like Mickey Mouse, Minnie, and Donald.
This isn’t the first time Minecraft has hosted Disney parks. An unofficial fan mod brought Walt Disney World to Minecraft some years ago, so you can already explore the park in all its glory if you’re a Minecraft aficionado. Still, this is the first official collaboration between the two companies. It makes sense; after the (admittedly cursed) Minions collab earlier this year, as well as a team-up with popular kids’ show Ben 10, an official version of Walt Disney World within Minecraft is the next logical step.
When is the Minecraft Magic Kingdom game release date?
According to the IAAPA and Dobrovolsky, the Minecraft Magic Kingdom game release date is…well, today. We’re expecting the collaboration to launch later today. One thing we don’t quite know yet is exactly what form it’ll take. Will it be a standalone release, or will it be a downloadable pack for Minecraft itself? We’re not sure yet, so we’ll have to wait a little longer until it launches for more news.
Minecraft has given rise to some pretty spectacular creations throughout the years. Earlier this year, a fan embarked on a project to build Cyberpunk 2077‘s Night City within Minecraft, and let’s not forget the stunning recreation of Breath of the Wild‘s Hyrule map. This official Minecraft Disney collaboration is going to have to bring its A-game if it wants to compete with Minecraft‘s incredibly talented fanbase.
