NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Slate Overview | October 30, 2021 on DraftKings – FantasyCruncher.com DFS Articles & Insights – fantasycruncher.com

Saturday night hockey is here, and with that – we have an eight game slate on tap tonight.  The Oilers are on the slate – so the top question of the night will be what to do with them as they take on Vancouver in a battle of Western Canadian teams.  Let’s have a look at some thoughts for the slate tonight and cap it off with a cheat sheet with some of the best plays on the board for DraftKings NHL DFS on Saturday, October 30th!

  • The Oilers big guns will be very popular tonight – and you’ll have to make a call on how to approach them.  It’s tough not to go over-weight on them in a match-up against the Canucks, who have struggled to keep goals off the board so far this season – and with that in mind, I do like the idea of going over-weight exposure here.  If you wanted to roll the dice, there are plenty of teams in good spots tonight – so the game theory angle could be intriguing – but with how well Edmonton is playing to start the season, fading them or going under-weight exposure on EDM1/EDM PP1 in large filed GPP’s is pretty dicey (and even more so in cash).
  • The Leafs are massive -300 favorites at home ice against Detroit tonight.  I just don’t get it.  Sure – on paper they probably should win this game with ease – but they have been dismal to start the season, and while they did pick up two points last time out – it was against the Hawks in OT.  The game theory angle for a fade here is pretty intriguing to me – sure, there is risk – but you have to make some calls somewhere and I don’t mind the idea of fading the big guns for Toronto tonight against a Detroit team that has been playing well to start the season.
  • To take this a step further, I don’t mind the spot for DET1/DET PP1 tonight against Toronto.  Mrazek is returning to the net for the Leafs tonight from his injury and with Jake Muzzin looking far from his usual self defensively to start the season, I like the idea of going over-weight on them in GPP’s, and would consider a couple pieces of them for cash if you wanted a bit of a contrarian build.  Speaking of Mrazek – he is priced at $6,500 tonight and will be extremely popular.  It’s hard to argue with using him in cash games for a -300 favorite, but in GPP’s, I love the idea of fading him tonight.
  • Despite the focus on two games above – there are plenty of other teams in great spots tonight.  The Blues are taking on a Hawks team that has been dismal to start the season and I love the spot for STL1 tonight.  Perron has been stellar to start the season and I’ve always been a big fan of Kyrou’s game, who is now skating with Perron and Schenn on the top line.
  • If you are looking for a low price stack that I love tonight, CGY2 is a great option.  I love what I have seen from Blake Coleman (FC’s algo has been the driver of the Blake Coleman fan club for years), and with Coleman staking with Backlund on the second line, you can roster them for $4,500 and $3200 respectively.  My preferred way to approach CGY2 would be with 2 man stacks, but you can use Pitlick for min price if you want a third piece.  He usually does enough with BS/SOG to not be a dud, and if he can find his way onto the scoresheet, this trio could be a great late night hammer to compliment a high stack on one of the elite stacks of the night.
