NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Slate Overview | October 29, 2021 on DraftKings – FantasyCruncher.com DFS Articles & Insights – fantasycruncher.com

Friday night’s slate is an interesting one.  Six games on the docket, with the closest Vegas line sitting at -160.  On nights like this with so many heavy favorites, I find ownership levels tend to be focused a little too much on the 1-2 largest favorites on the board, when in reality – there are six teams in great spots tonight.  Let’s have a look at some thoughts on the slate tonight!

  • From an exposure standpoint, as I touched on above – I like the idea of going a little bit under-weight on the two largest favorites on the board in large field MME GPP formats (WAS1/WAS PP1, CAR1/CAR PP1).  Both of them will be very popular for the large favorites – but at the end of the day, there is no shortage to teams in good spots tonight.  For cash, Ovie, (edit: Oshie, placed on IR and thus – won’t be chalk!) and Aho are all worth strong consideration even though they will likely be chalk – but I don’t think you ‘have’ to roll with any of them, especially if you are looking for a game theory twist on the field.
  • Florida won’t be low owned tonight – but as the smallest favorite on the board, I have no problem going against the turmoil surrounding the coaching change – I’d imagine they keep on rolling as road dogs against the Red Wings tonight.  The expensive price point, smallest favorite on the board and coaching change may help keep ownership levels lower on them than I think they should be tonight for a team that has arguably been the best in hockey so far.  FLA PP1 remains my favorite way to play them with their spread out approach.
  • The Rangers at home against the Jackets are another spot that I really like to go over-weight on in large field GPP MME formats.  My favorite way to play them is through the top line – and while I wish Lafrienere was still playing with Zibanejad and Kreider – I do like Barclay Goodrow, even though he won’t play on the top PP unit for $2,900 tonight.  Fox on the back-end is a great high priced add too if you can afford him.
  • Dallas check in at -190 tonight at home against Ottawa, and DK has removed the free Joe Pavelski square, which is nice after seeing him 85+% owned in cash the other night.  For me, I love the spot for DAL2 (Benn-Radulov-Gurianov) for an affordable price as a low cost value stack, even though Radulov isn’t playing on the top PP unit.  Benn-Gurianov is a great 2-man stack here if you were looking to include those in your builds.
  • Vegas are large favorites tonight – but if you asked me for one team to fade in large field GPP MME’s, it could blow up in my face, but they would be my choice.  They’ve been struggling to start the season and I think Anaheim will be able to do enough to keep them from lighting the lamp enough to be relevant in a large field GPP MME format tonight.
