Team Two gets maximum production on offense | Win Or Lose | theredstonerocket.com – Theredstonerocket

Scott Landers and his teammates made the most of their at-bats.

Landers hit a three-run homer as Team Two beat Team One, 23-15 on Oct. 18 at field 1 in Brahan Spring Park. They play in the 55-and-over Rockets league in Huntsville Senior Softball.

Team Two scored the five-run maximum in four of six innings.

“Did it with good hitting and good defense,” winning pitcher/coach Dale Guess, a left-hander, said. “We had several five-run innings so that helped us. Bottom of the order hit just like the top. We put a bunch of hits together. That’s what won the game for us.”

Landers, the shortstop, went 4-for-4 with seven runs batted in and three runs scored for Team Two (3-1). Booger Clark and Bill Hartsell also had four hits apiece. Yogi Guess and Bobby Upton had three hits apiece. Sam Sepulveda, Dale Guess and Reid Pincomb added two hits apiece. Dale Guess pitched all seven innings for the win.

“Just blessed to be out here,” Landers said. “I just want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ just for the health and strength to be out here.”

Tom Fickling, William Kelly and Kirk Wickizer had three hits apiece for Team One (1-3). Wickizer hit a three-run homer. Bennie Pokemire, player/coach Rick Anthis, pitcher Denny Reasner and Matt Thomas had two hits apiece. Reasner took the loss.

“A few errors,” Anthis said, “and our bats (were) just not there.”
