Who needs guns?

Melee weapons in Fortnite allow you to attack your foes without having to worry about ammunition.

You can also use them to gather resources, like wood, to help build structures on the Fortnite map.

In Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8, you’ll need to use a melee weapon to complete a number of the quest punchcard challenges, so you can gather Battle Pass XP.

What is a melee weapon in Fortnite?

There is, at the time of writing, only one melee weapon in Fortnite – your harvesting tool, also known as the pickaxe.

This makes finding a melee weapon incredibly easy, because you automatically start every match with your harvesting tool. Simply select your favourite from your Locker and away you go!

You can use your melee weapon to complete a number of quests for the punchcards this season; including ‘Damage wildlife with a melee weapon’ and ‘Eliminate Cube Monsters in The Sideways with a melee weapon’ from Dire’s questline.

To complete these quests you simply need to use your melee weapon on whichever object it specifies – i.e. wildlife.
