How Can I Get Diamonds in Minecraft?
You can find Diamond Ore between layers 5 and 16, but the best place to check is Layer 12. You can check which layer you are on in a map by looking at the Y value (F3 on PC).
Another way to go hunting for diamonds is by exploring cave systems in the map you are using. Caves in Minecraft can be huge, so as long as you have a means of lighting the area (such as a torch) you can easily find swaths of Diamond Ore. Just be on the lookout for lava!

A way around this is the ‘Staircase Method,’ where you can dig down on a 45-degree angle leaving behind you a staircase that can easily be used to return to the surface by jumping.

The Branch Mining Method
