The MLB DFS Dinger of the Day – August 28, 2021 (8/28/21) – FantasyCruncher.com DFS Articles & Insights – fantasycruncher.com

Every day this season, our team shares who we believe has the best chance to leave the yard. From one-off plays to core parts of daily stacks, we hope this fun article will help you build winning lineups along the way.

Today’s Picks

James: Pete Alonso – “Sean Nolin has no real right being in the majors as he has not produced at really any level of baseball over his 10+ year career. In just seven innings pitched on the year, Nolin has allowed 14 hits and seven earned, including two long balls. With a lack of velocity and no real strong secondary pitch, I view Nolin as a tee just ready to be launched off of. The sample is small in 2021, but there isn’t much at any other point in his career where he has produced an ERA lower than four. Alonso has pure power that can feast on a guy like this.”

Zach: Fernando Tatis Jr. – “We all know that Tatis Jr. is one of the five best hitters in baseball but that is only partially the reason he is in this article today. Tatis Jr. also makes this article due to his match-up against Jose Suarez. Suarez is just not a good pitcher. When it comes to giving up the long ball, Suarez has allowed at least one home run in seven of his last nine starts and for the season has an HR/9 rate of 1.26.”

Jared: Shohei Ohtani – “The Angels don’t have a ton of power against LHP right now, especially with Mike Trout continuing to recover on the IL. However, Ohtani does lead their team in wRC+ against LHP (156) with a .380 ISO and 14 HR in the split. Nothing to scoff at by any means. Looking at Ryan Weathers today, he’s a prime candidate to pick on. He’s allowed 9 HR in his last 4 starts (5 total appearances) across just 17.2 IP, resulting in a 4.58 HR/9 and 13.2% barrel rate in that time (both being the weakest in those stat categories on the slate today). I’m happy to pick on Weathers despite the LvL matchup in hopes Ohtani keeps rolling along with his insane 2021 season.”
