Daily MLB DFS Stacking Strategies for FanDuel & DraftKings – August 22, 2021 (8/22/21) – FantasyCruncher.com DFS Articles & Insights – fantasycruncher.com

Digging into today’s MLB DFS slate to highlight your best bats to stack.

This article will cover two to three teams that we think are the most stackable for MLB contests. If you are newer to DFS or MLB or want a general refresher on the impact of stacking in MLB, check out our research done this off-season, where we analyzed over 2,000,000 lineups to determine how many times a team of four or five hitters stacked from the same team won contests. In brief, 80.3% of winning lineups across 71 Main Slate tournaments (from 2020) had a stack of at least four players. 71.9% of that 80.3% had a stack of five players. Stacking is the main strategy to focus on when it comes to MLB. Therefore we will be approaching our hitter’s content from a stacking perspective.

Blue Jays (vs. Tigers)

We have another 10 game slate on both Draftkings and Fanduel, with plenty of options to choose from. The Blue Jays take on the Tigers at home in a matchup that will feature a pitcher who has only pitched 1.2 innings across the last 3 years; Drew Hutchison. In that one appearance, Hutchison allowed 5 hits, 2 earned runs, and an HR. Across the small sample size of his career, he’s allowed 32 homers to right-handed batters. This Blue Jay’s team is loaded with options to exploit this matchup; however, they will undoubtedly be one of the more popular teams on the slate, so we’ll need to mix things up in tournaments. I’ll be looking to use TOR in both primary and secondary stacks while making sure to add lower-owned pieces around them.

Blue Jays vs. Drew Hutchison

$ Tier P C1B 2B 3B SS OF
High Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (6.2k / 19.02) (4.4k / 24.80) (20 / 15.73) Marcus Semien (5.3k / 16.69) (4k / 21.76) (22 / 13.80) Bo Bichette (4.9k / 15.43) (3.7k / 20.12) (18 / 12.76) Teoscar Hernandez (5.2k / 16.33) (3.9k / 21.29) (27 / 13.50)
Medium Lourdes Gurriel (3.8k / 8.29) (3.2k / 10.81) (17 / 6.85)
Low Drew Hutchison (4.9k / 3.82) (5.5k / 6.81) (25 / 3.82) Alejandro Kirk (3.7k / 8.22) (2.1k / 10.72) (13 / 6.80) Corey Dickerson (3.1k / 9.20) (2.6k / 12.00) (16 / 7.61)
Randal Grichuk (3.7k / 6.77) (2.7k / 8.83) (13 / 5.60)

Braves (@ Orioles)

The Braves take on the Orioles in a road matchup vs. John Means. Over his last 3 starts, Means has allowed 24 hits, 15 runs, 11 earned runs, and 5 HRs with a 7.43 ERA across 13.1 innings pitched. Means is in the bottom 12th percentile in Barrel%, the bottom 24th percentile in xSLG, and the bottom 8th percentile in Max Exit Velocity. Atlanta will look to exploit Mean’s 1.94 HR/9, 48.1% FB rate, and 15.7 HR/FB rate. On Draftkings, the Braves won’t be a cheap team to stack, which will keep their ownership lower than it should be. They will still have a lot of popularity, and it will be important to handle your tournament lineup construction accordingly, mixing in lower-owned options around them.
