Heroic (HERO) v.s. Bad News Bears (BNB) (7:30 AM EST)
Defending champions of last season in HERO start off the new season and slate against a team on the come up with a hot six game win-streak in BNB. This will also be the debut for BNB in the league this season, but players like junior of BNB are in familiar territory and unfortunately, he did not perform the last time he faced off with this team, although it was with his past team. Swisher of BNB has been the most consistent of the two most efficient slayers on the BNB squad between him and Spongey and they both have 1.11 K/D’s up to this point with Swisher averaging more damage per round (80). Another reason why Swisher may be the one to contribute more often than Spongey is the fact that he’s been at least top two in slaying in every match during this win-streak for BNB. However, the closest player to that slaying capability on HERO is cadiaN (as the main team sniper) who currently has the highest K/D on his team and a 73 damage per round advantage against his opposing main sniper in junior. Fortunately, for HERO cadiaN prevailed as the more efficient slayer out of the two last time they met, but he was also the least-highest in slaying which can be a problem for BNB. However, BNB does have the higher team overall K/D of 1.08 compared to HERO’s 1.06 so this match has potential to be closer than expected and a big opportunity for BNB to make a statement.
Team Vitality (VIT) v.s. Team ENCE (ENCE) (10:15 AM EST)
With both of these teams entering this match on a losing-streak, ENCE gets the chance to repeat the beating they put down on VIT the last time these teams faced off last season. ENCE was able to sweep VIT in a series 2-0 previously and that was even with one of the best snipers in the game in ZywOo being the most efficient player on his team that match. Fortunately for VIT, they won’t have to deal with allu from ENCE who dominated them last time with a +14 kill-death differential. On the other hand, his replacement for ENCE hades has been dominant with a 1.21 K/D ratio currently as the main sniper for his team. ZywOo has a tremendously more accurate shot though (40.8% versus hades’ 29.9%) which may benefit VIT a lot more this time. Therefore, someone may need to step up for ENCE in hopes to repeat their performance again like last time against this VIT squad. Snappi was the next highest slayer in the last matchup for ENCE, but has sadly been the least efficient slayer for his team which could make matters tougher for ENCE this time around. In other words, VIT have a nice chance to bounce back in this one but the rest of the players on the team outside of ZywOo have to perform better and would have a better shot if they don’t all have negative kill-death differentials.
Team SPIRIT (SPIRIT) v.s. Astralis (ASTRA) (1:15 PM EST)
SPIRIT enter this match on a three-game winning streak against an ASTRA squad they last defeated earlier this year in a close series (up until the last map) 2-1. Magisk who was often the the most efficient slayer for ASTRA did not perform his best in that matchup and will definitely need to step it up compared to his -25 kill-death differential in order to give ASTRA a better chance of winning. Although, Magisk is coming off his team’s last loss with a positive kill-differential dupreeh has been the team’s most efficient slayer as of late with a 1.05 K/D and was also dominated in the last faceoff these teams had with a -14 kill-death differential. As for SPIRIT, the slaying was balanced across the board for the most part with degster having the highest kill-death differential of +18. In addition, degster has had a +43 kill-death differential during SPIRIT’s current win-streak which bodes well for his chances of being a dominant slayer again this time. Also, mir has followed up behind him with a +41 kill-death differential across SPIRIT’s win-streak which can cause even more havoc for ASTRA. With mir being the top slayer for SPIRIT in the last faceoff against ASTRA he should be one of ASTRA’s main priorities to slow down, but that’ll be easier said than done especially with SPIRIT averaging a 1.10 team overall K/D compared to ASTRA’s 0.99.
