Daily MLB DFS Stacking Strategies for FanDuel & DraftKings – August 15, 2021 (8/15/21) – FantasyCruncher.com DFS Articles & Insights – fantasycruncher.com

Digging into today’s MLB DFS slate to highlight your best bats to stack.

This article will cover two to three teams that we think are the most stackable for MLB contests. If you are newer to DFS or MLB or want a general refresher on the impact of stacking in MLB, check out our research done this off-season, where we analyzed over 2,000,000 lineups to determine how many times a team of four or five hitters stacked from the same team won contests. In brief, 80.3% of winning lineups across 71 Main Slate tournaments (from 2020) had a stack of at least four players. 71.9% of that 80.3% had a stack of five players. Stacking is the main strategy to focus on when it comes to MLB. Therefore we will be approaching our hitter’s content from a stacking perspective.

Cardinals (@ Royals)

We have another 10 game slate on both Draftkings and Fanduel, with plenty of options to choose from. The Cardinals take on the Royals at home in a matchup that will feature struggling pitchers on both sides. For this article, we will focus on Kris Bubic. Over his last 3 starts, Bubic has allowed 12 hits, 6 earned runs, and 3 home runs across 16.2 innings pitched with a 4.52 ERA. Bubic’s struggles are evident when looking at his advanced statistics; Bubic ranks in the bottom 22nd percentile of the league in K%,  17th percentile in BB%,  22nd percentile in barrel%,  27th percentile in whiff%, and 37th percentile in exit velocity. Bubic has a 32.9% FB rate, 21% HR/FB, and 1.79 HR/9 on the year. The Card’s have the 3rd highest implied run total on the slate at 5.32, so I would expect them to be somewhat popular. As mentioned at the top of the article, both of these pitchers are struggling on the season, and for tournament lineup construction, I’ll be looking to throw a few game stacks together as this one has blow-up potential on both sides.

Cardinals vs. Kris Bubic

$ Tier P C 1B 2B 3B SS OF
High Paul Goldschmidt (4.7k / 12.38) (3.4k / 16.14) Nolan Arenado (5k / 12.99) (3.5k / 16.94)
Medium Yadier Molina (3.6k / 0.72) (2.4k / 0.94) Tommy Edman (3.2k / 9.17) (2.8k / 11.96) Paul DeJong (3.6k / 0.75) (2.6k / 0.98) Tyler O’Neill (3.5k / 9.93) (3k / 12.95)
Low Kris Bubic (5.9k / 8.62) (7.4k / 15.35) Matt Carpenter (2.2k / 0.58) (2k / 0.75) Harrison Bader (2.6k / 7.56) (2.9k / 9.86)
Jose Rondon (2.2k / 4.24) (2k / 5.52)

Brewers (@ Pirates)

The Brewers take on the Pirates in a road matchup vs. Dillon Peters. The Pirates recently acquired the 28-year-old LHP for cash considerations from the Angles, and he’s being called up to make his first start. Over his 8 games started in AAA with the Angles, Peters allowed 47 hits, 20 earned runs, and 12 home runs across 41.1 innings pitched with a 4.35 ERA. Over that same span, Dillon had a 25.5% HR/FB rate, 42.6 GB rate, and 2.61 HR/9. Despite having a 5.25 implied run total, the Brewers are going overlooked on Draftkings. They are expensive and tough to build around; however, this is a great spot to pay up to be contrarian in tournaments. I’ll certainly be using the Brewers as primary and secondary stacks despite the price tag.
