The MLB DFS Dinger of the Day – August 2, 2021 (8/2/21) – FantasyCruncher.com DFS Articles & Insights – fantasycruncher.com

Every day this season, our team shares who we believe has the best chance to leave the yard. From one-off plays to core parts of daily stacks, we hope this fun article will help you build winning lineups along the way.

Today’s Picks

James: Eduardo Escobar – “Bryse Wilson will grab his first start as a Pirate on Monday and brings along his 4.83 ERA and 1.55 WHIP. In just 31 innings in 2021, Wilson has allowed seven long balls and letting hitters bat .320 against him on the year. Wilson relies on his 4-seam fastball, though it is being hit at a .360 average on the year and .540 slugging. Lefties have five of the seven homers off Wilson and lefties are also slugging .556, while Eduardo Escobar has hit 15 of his 23 homers against fastballs this year.”

Zach: Joey Gallo – “Gallo has not gone deep since joining the Yankees but I think that changes tonight against Jorge Lopez. Lopez is one of if not the worst pitcher in baseball. Lopez has struggled the most against left-handed hitters on the road. This season in those situations, Lopez is allowing lefties to slug .614 and has an HR/9 rate of 2.33. Gallo’s season-long numbers against righties are also excellent as he is slugging .467 with a .261 ISO against them.”

Jared: Anthony Rizzo – “Jorge Lopez has really struggled this year, giving up 16 HR on 27 barrels with a xERA of 5.31. Both RHB and LHB have plenty of success against him, and with a couple barrels already as a Yankee, Rizzo seems to have the wind back in his sails as a member of his new club. In a power split, facing a HR-prone and struggling SP, I love the way things line up for him this evening for a long ball at home in the friendly hitting confines of NYC.”
