The MLB DFS Dinger of the Day – July 18, 2021 (7/18/21) – FantasyCruncher.com DFS Articles & Insights – fantasycruncher.com

Every day this season, our team shares who we believe has the best chance to leave the yard. From one-off plays to core parts of daily stacks, we hope this fun article will help you build winning lineups along the way.

Today’s Picks

James: Jonathan Schoop – “While the Tigers aren’t my first team to target a home run pick from usually, it’s hard to not grab someone here against JA Happ. Happ has allowed 17 homers on the year and at least one in 11 of 14 starts. Right-handed hitters makeup 16 of the 17 homers and carry a slugging percentage near .600. Schoop is batting .293 against lefties on the year and is averaging the highest Barrel% and Exit Velocity of his career in 2021.”

Zach: Alex Kirilloff– “I like the Tigers and James selection of Jonathan Schoop tonight but I am going to go to the other side of this game and select a Twins hitter for my pick. Specifically, I like Kirilloff due to his 90.8 miles per hour exit velocity, 13.2% barrel rate, and 43.4% hard-hit rate. The fact that Kirilloff is left-handed also doesn’t hurt matters as Wily Peralta has allowed left-handed hitters to slug .480 with an HR/9 rate of 1.40 in his career.”

Jared: Vladimir Guerrero Jr – “The Jays and Rangers take part in a Sunday doubleheader after having their Saturday tilt get washed out in Buffalo. When I look at the starters they get to face here – particularly in the first part of the double-dip – I can’t help but get excited. They have given up a combined 15 HR in their last 10 starts, and we all know how generous of a HR park Buffalo is, too. Vlad is a 159 wRC+ hitter against LHP this year with a .233 ISO and a 207 wRC+ hitter against RHP with a .374 ISO. He generally goes deep at a much higher clip vs RHP, but I’m not denying him the moment to have a big day against either type of arm today. With how well he’s seeing the ball and great day’s worth of matchups, I’m all in on the talented Jays’ youngster.”
