We enter Week 4 of the LEC Summer Split with a slate that features some large favorites and a great on-paper matchup between two of this splits elites.
With the LEC, I typically highlight my favorite overall team to target and then some value, so starting with the favorite overall team to target on this slate I am going with Rogue. Rogue is actually the biggest favorite on this slate at -525, though they are priced third at three positions, and second at the other two. This provides us not only value, but some of the top upside as they are facing SK Gaming who is just 1-6 on the split. When it comes to SK, not much has been great for them this year – they have four starters in the bottom of the league in total KDA, and in a weird move, their former starting support Jesiz, just changed positions to head coach. That means Lilipp is now the starting support and has nine deaths through just two games. Maybe in the long run, this move will pay dividends, but for now, Rogue has the upper hand in almost all facets. Hans Sama, Inspired, and Trymbi all sit top-20 for total KDA, Hans Sama is fifth for KPG, and Hans and Larssen are top ten in gold per minute and CS per minute. This game should be a breeze for Rogue as we do not even need to pay top dollar. My only concern is that the pace is slow and SK tries to grind it out – it will fall on the shoulders of Rogue to play aggressive here.
For value, and my personal favorite matchup of this slate, we have 6-1 Misfits gaming against the Spring Split champs in 4-3 Mad Lions. Mad Lions are just a -132 favorite here, but all that really does is open up Misfits value for us as they are priced sixth at almost all positions. Statistically though, Misfits have been the elite team this split, as Vetheo and Kobbe rank one and two for overall KDA at 13.5 and 10. HiRit ranks fourth, Razork ninth, and Vander isn’t too far behind at 12th. When it comes to just kills per game, HiRit and Vetheo rank two and three here, while Vetheo and Kobbe rank one and two for deaths per game at just 0.86 and 1.14. This a team that simply isn’t making stupid plays or dying stupid deaths. They are still very aggressive and while you may think oh so they are just winning on kills – nope. Misfits have three starters in the top ten for Gold per minute and three of them sit top 15 in CS/M. The name recognition of Misfits just isn’t as loud as the others of G2/Fnatic/Mad/Rogue – but I think it is time to start taking this team seriously as they are playing some of the best full team League I have seen in a while.
