James: Christian Yelich – “Yelich has 2 HR in his last 4 games, and faces a RHP who is giving up a ton of long balls this year (Kyle Hendricks). Nineteen of them to be exact. LHBs have a wOBA of nearly .400 against Hendricks this year, and with one of the league’s most talented left-handed bats getting hot right now – this is certainly the right time to roster the Milwaukee stud. Get him active and enjoy the ride.”
Zach: Kyle Schwarber – “I am only picking Schwarber tonight if he remains in the leadoff spot as he is the greatest leadoff hitter in the history of MLB. While I joke about the last sentence it is hard to argue with Schwarber’s career numbers as a leadoff hitter and especially hard to argue with what he has done in the 15 games since the Nationals put him atop of their lineup. In those games, Schwarber is slugging 1.035 with a .684 ISO and 13 home runs. Jerad Eickhoff who Schwarber faces tonight is not someone that is likely to slow him down. Eickhoff in fact is a pitcher that I love to target left-handed hitters against as he has a career HR/9 rate of 1.86 against them and is allowing them to slug .535.”
Jared: Yordan Alvarez – “He’s getting hot for the Astros right now, and faces one of the league’s softer-skilled RHPs this evening (Eshelman). He has a .302 ISO in the split against righties for his career with an OPS over the 1.000 mark (1.005 to be exact), with an elite 14.2% barrel rate and very home run-friendly 12.2 average launch angle. He’s seeing the ball really well these days and has every opportunity to take one deep in a nice hitting environment, too.”
