In this article, we will be breaking down some of our favorite plays on the slate at their positions. Remember to always keep your eye on the news as the day progresses.
Guard
Ariel Atkins- I don’t normally like to spend up at the guard position as the position tends to offer the most value while most of the stud players in the WNBA are forwards. With that being said I am going to be almost all in on Atkins today. Atkins is coming off a huge 32 point scoring performance in the Mystics’ last game out and has produced at least 25 fantasy points in nine straight games. Atkins is not just putting up big numbers right now but she is also going to play a lot of minutes as the Mystics are an injury-riddled team right now and will have nine possibly only eight healthy players for today contests. The Fever is also a fantastic match-up for Atkins as they have allowed the most points per game this season.
Kayla McBride- McBride had a bad stretch of games recently but had been playing great prior to the bad stretch of games and had a great game in her last game. In that last game, McBride played 34 minutes and went for 22 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals on her way to 32.8 fantasy points. That game just happened to come against the Wings who McBride and the Lynx play again today.
Forward
Jessica Breland- Breland had a rough stretch of games to end the month of May and start the month of June but those games seem like a distant memory as she is putting up big numbers right now. In her past four games, Breland is averaging seven points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.8 steals, and 3.3 blocks. Breland has at least 24 fantasy points in each of those games and is averaging 34.6 fantasy points during this stretch. Breland is not just playing well right now but she has also had a lot of success against the Mystics this season. In their previous two games, Breland is averaging 13.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, five assists, two blocks, and 37.2 fantasy points.
Theresa Plaisance- Tina Charles is back for the Mystics today but Myisha Hines-Allen, as well as Erica McCall, are going to be out. That means we should see Plaisance play big minutes once again for the Mystics. In their last game with a starting forward out (Charles) Plaisance got the start and played 34 minutes. In those 34 minutes, she had 25 points, six rebounds, three assists, and a steal on her way to 38.7 fantasy points. That was the second game out of her past three games where Plaisance has had at least 33 fantasy points and for the season she is averaging 1.17 fantasy points per minute.
