What an absolute wild Friday of LCS action – we saw Evil Genuises upset Cloud9, Golden Guardians upset Dignitas, and then CLG wiped 100 Thieves off the face of the planet with a 21-0 beat down. Really don’t have much I can say on that one, as 100T were performing as the best team of the split while CLG the worst, but when it comes to eSports, sometimes that’s the way it is. There are some large favorites again on this slate, and in the end, the smart money is going to be on the better teams, but the tournament money is going to be on some underdogs. I still firmly believe chasing underdogs is -EV, as yes, CLG would have been optimal yesterday, but when a team is 7-18 on the year, you’re taking an L more times than not. One team that did not get upset yesterday was Team Liquid, and they seem like a safe tail today as they face off against Golden Guardians. Besides TL being a -432 favorite, we also get some discounts on them as Tactical ios the fourth priced ADC and Santorin the third priced Jungler. It is rare when we get a slate where the largest favorite isn’t the most expensive across the board, meaning we should be able to roster a four-stack of TL today without any issues. 100 Thieves may end up being one of the better plays on the slate today, as yesterday’s results should push off some ownership, but the upside remains high against FlyQuest. Evil Genuises hold a high price today at just a -137 ranking, but they have also proven to be one of the more aggressive teams during the Summer.
