Aliens are coming to Fortnite in season 7, and they have started to make their presence known in-game. There is now a crop circle at Colossal Crops, which is not a huge shock, given that for a few days now, all the crops there have been buzzed down.

The shape carved into the ground is a six-pointed hexagon with some triangle criss-crosses in the middle and some strange symbols around the outside. It can be seen from quite a ways up if your pop-in textures are working correctly.

It doesn’t actually do anything right now, is just a herald of what’s to come. And what’s to come may be more crop circles, as there are a few other cleared out fields in this same region. Or I suppose it’s possible we see symbols pop up in other parts of the map. It would be a little weird to do them all here.

On each edge of the hexagon there is a symbol, ones we’ve seen pop up in other out-of-game clues so far, and I mean, it’s pretty clear what’s happening. Aliens are going to be invading the game in season 7, and that’s going to be the theme going forward. But what form they take, how they’ll change the map and what they want remains unknown.

Supposedly all of this is not going to culminate in a live event to end the season, but there may be another “intro mission” type thing like we saw at the beginning of this current season to start it up. We’ll likely have more information on that soon.

As for the crop circles, I’m not sure if we’re supposed to be able to read these symbols with some sort of translator, but if that exists, I haven’t seen it yet. Perhaps if more of these crop up they’ll spell something out. Or they just might be designs the aliens think are cool, and they’re not actually trying to tell us anything other than “we’re here.”

There are supposed to be aliens abducting players around the map, and I believe that went live briefly by accident a short while ago, so that may start again soon now that the crop circle is here. Play some games and keep an eye out for anything…weird.
