The MLB DFS Dinger of the Day – May 29, 2021 (5/29/21) – FantasyCruncher.com DFS Articles & Insights – fantasycruncher.com

Every day this season, our team will share who we believe has the best chance to leave the yard. We’re calling it the “Dinger of the Day”. From one-off plays to core parts of daily stacks, we hope this fun article will help you build winning lineups along the way.

Today’s Picks

James: Tyler O’Neill – “It sounds mean and unfair coming from an overweight baseball fan typing this from his office chair at 2:30 am, but I say this with conviction when I say that Seth Frankoff really has no place in the Major Leagues right now. Frankoff made 50 starts for the Doosan Bears of the KBO in 18-19 and carried a 3.70 ERA, but besides that, his MLB service time features 13.1 innings with 20 hits allowed and 14 earned runs. In just 8.2 innings with the Diamondbacks on the year he has allowed 10 hits, five walks, and seven earned – including two home runs. What is Frankoff struggling with the most? Well, he throws a 4-seam fastball 42% of the time and it averages out at 91MPH and is being slugged at a .615 rate and a .308 batting average. This pitch has just a 7.1 Whiff% and 11.8 PutAway%. O’Neill has had more success on the breaking stuff, but he ranks in the top 15% of MLB hitters for both Max and Avg Exit Velo, HardHit%, and the top 3% of the league in Barrel%. I’ll be honest, I really wanted to put Paul Goldschmidt here, but didn’t want to do Zach dirty like that in case he ends up riding that pick. Hopefully one of us can get out of our drought today.”

Zach: Kyle Seager -“While I almost ran Paul Goldschmidt back for the third-straight day I don’t like Seth Frankoff’s Statcast numbers for chasing home runs. Instead of picking Goldschmidt, I am going to do Jared dirty and steal Kyle Seager who he wrote up the past two days. I feel Seager has one of the best chances to go deep on this slate as he takes on Mike Foltynewicz who has awful Statcast numbers. This season Foltynewicz is allowing an average exit velocity of 91.4 miles per hour, an average launch angle of 17.1-degrees, and has an HR/9 rate of 1.78.”

Jared: Kyle Seager – “Sigh. Zach’s trying to sneak Seager away from me, so I’ll be the first to be doubling-up on the guy who I think will go deep tonight. This is the third straight day that I’m recommending Seager, who remains one of the Mariners who is seeing the ball very well these days. Folty struggles against LHBs and is very homer-prone with 11 allowed on the year (most on the small 4 game main slate). The pitcher’s park will work to his advantage a little bit, but I’m sticking with the older Seager brother here in a plus situation for a long fly one more time.”
