Overwatch 2 is a game eagerly awaited by many millions of players, and while we still have a lot of questions (like when it might release), eagle-eyed observers are starting to put together the pieces.
One of the bigger lingering questions fans have is whether or not there will be new heroes in Overwatch 2, either included at launch or added in later updates.

Are New Heroes Coming to Overwatch 2?
We know that the original cast of Overwatch is returning for Overwatch 2 (with many getting a glow up in the process), but what we don’t know much about is what new heroes we can look forward to playing, with one exception.
Blizzard has confirmed there will be new heroes, although the only one shown off so far is the incredibly badass, rail-gun wielding Sojourn, who hails from Canada.

There are currently 32 playable heroes in Overwatch coming over to Overwatch 2, and with the inclusion of Sojourn, that brings the number up to 33. They are:

- Doomfist
- Echo
- Genji
- Hanzo
- Junkrat
- Lucio

- Moira
- Orisa
- Pharah
- Reaper
- Reinhardt
- Roadhog
- Sigma
- Soldier 76
- Sojourn
- Sombra
- Symmetra
- Torbjorn

That is an incredible amount of diversity of play on offer for a game at launch, with new heroes no doubt being included at a rapid clip if the first game is anything to go by.
Blizzard introduced three new heroes each year for the first three years after Overwatch launched. Two were added in the fourth year, with the last (Echo), releasing in the fifth.
With the level of balancing and playtesting required to integrate an entirely new hero into a competitive game like Overwatch, that is no small feat.
We will be waiting with bated breath for news of any other new heroes at launch and will update you as soon as we learn more.
