NRG star Cody “Clix” Conrod has had his Support-A-Creator Code suspended indefinitely as punishment for an inappropriate Tweet.

This isn’t the first time that Clix has found himself in hot water due to his behavior on socials. Earlier in the year, he faced severe backlash following a toxic comment directed at Epic Games’ Chief Creative Officer, Donald Mustard.

Clix took to Twitter to explain the situation. “Lost my code not really sure why, haven’t done viewer wagers since I got my first warning” he stated, referencing a previous warning over Fortnite wagering.

He returned an hour later having confirmed the real reason for Epic’s decision. A poorly thought-out Tweet, which has since been deleted, was the culprit.

The Support-A-Creator (SAC) program was introduced by Epic as a way to reward creators and incentivize them to continue playing and promoting their games. It allows them to take a small share of the revenue each time a supporter purchases something from the Item Shop using their code.

It may not sound like the end of the world, but for a personality as popular as Clix, losing this code means missing out on a lot of money. With a dedicated community, millions of social media followers and streams regularly pulling in over 20k viewers, he was undoubtedly one of the program’s top earners.

Clix responded maturely, saying “I thought everyone would take it as a joke but I understand it I’m representing a company I shouldn’t of tweeted it”. He added that he hopes to get his code re-enabled soon.

It’s common knowledge that the Fortnite scene is looked down upon by fans of other esports and posts like his are a major factor. Epic Games taking a stand and holding creators accountable for their conduct outside of the game is a step towards building a stronger community.

Superstars like Clix are ambassadors for Fortnite and a significant part of its brand. Hopefully he will get his code back before too long and this will serve as a lesson to others to be more tactful when in the public eye.
