Every day this season, our team will share who we believe has the best chance to leave the yard. We’re calling it the “Dinger of the Day”. From one-off plays to core parts of daily stacks, we hope this fun article will help you build winning lineups along the way.
Today’s Picks
James: Alex Bregman – “I’m taking solace in the fact that the name I put here is at least good for a double every night (and a triple yesterday) but I am still missing that ever so exclusive long ball. Tonight I am looking at Alex Bregman as Sean Manaea has been touched up not only in his first start, but all through the spring. Bregman has an elite career .324 average against LHP and a .610 slugging. Bregman and Manaea have faced each other 26 times, with Bregman taking him deep three times. Manaea gave up two long balls in his first start and has a WHIP of almost two right now. Control has always been a strong spot of Manaea, so the lack of it right now as a sinkerball pitcher could paint some problems.”
Zach: Jose Ramirez – “With how much hard contact Teheran is giving up at this stage of his career, he needs to be picked on today for DFS purposes. I’m going with arguably the best overall hitter on the Cleveland roster here in Ramirez, who is in his stronger split situation (.221 ISO, .361 wOBA lifetime vs RHP) and faces a fly ball oriented pitcher who has been anything but effective his last couple of years in the majors.”
Jared: Franmil Reyes – “He may only have one long fly to show for himself so far this year, but his launch angle is up and he’s making a ton of hard contact. He’s going to have a huge year for CLE if this keeps up, and Julio Teheran is as juicy of a matchup as it gets for a RHB power hitter. He has 3 xBH against him in 11 PA, with 2 of those leaving the yard and has a career .241 ISO split vs RHP (stronger than LHP). He has a great chance at going deep tonight – and many more times this year.”
