With titles like PUBG Mobile and Free Fire growing in both revenue and downloads in 2020, they also gained a lot of eyeballs when in their esports sphere. This trend is reflected in the data released by the Esports Charts.
Five most popular mobile eSports games in 2020
Clash Royale
Clash Royale by Supercell is in the fifth position. The game’s ranking hasn’t improved however, its Hours Watched increased by 31.3%. Though the game has faced a few setbacks since its Peak Viewers have just been 112K during Clash Royale League World Finals 2020, which is 18% less than in 2019.
Arena of Valor
Arena of Valor held the first position in 2019 but has now moved to the 4th place. However, the game has remained extremely popular since its Hours Watched increased by 30% over the year.
Arena of Valor International Championship 2020 broke the 2019 record, having reached a peak viewership of 568K. Hours Watched of the main tournament almost doubled since they saw an increase of about 96%.
Mobile Legends
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang by Moonton currently holds the third spot– its Hours Watched and Peak Viewers increased by 262%and 114%, respectively. Tournament streaming has been allowed on Nimo TV and TikTok, which has also added to the increase in the viewership.
Garena Free Fire
Garena Free Fire went from 3rd to 2nd place with 246% growth in Hours Watched! Free Fire Continental Series 2020 Asia was the most-watched game last year with a 2.5M Peak Viewers. Free Fire Continental Series EMEA 2020 has gathered 128 thousand Russian-speaking viewers at the peak, which has been the highest for the Free Fire CIS tournaments.

PUBG Mobile
PUBG Mobile has the spot for the top esport of 2020, and has only beaten Free Fire by 1,75% Hours Watched). In 2020 the game had 134.5M Hours Watched for 7.8K hours of Air Time. These numbers happen to be the highest for any esport. PUBG Mobile overtook Garena Free Fire by 4.5K Hours Watched because it hosted many amateur tournaments worldwide.
The most popular tournament was the PUBG Mobile World League 2020 (EAST) with a peak1.1M Peak Viewers.
The PUBG Mobile Club Open series boosts the games’ popularity in every region and India gathered the most viewers: 87K people at peak. India has been one of the most popular regions for PUBG Mobile, however, because of the ban, the game is no longer played in the country.
