After just missing out on Super Bowl LV, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen took on gamers in the Streamer Bowl II. The game of choice? Fortnite.
Allen was part of a 30-team tournament featuring NFL players on Thursday night. Playing alongside Allen were two Twitch streamers considered to be among the best of the best at Fortnite. At stake was $1 million for charity that would be divided up among the teams.
The quarterback streamed for fans on Twitch and provided plenty of entertainment for the Bills Mafia. Miss the stream? Here’s are some of the most entertaining moments from the stream.
His signature wink made an appearance after he slammed a Labatt Blue Light
At one point in the stream, Allen quickly grabbed his beer, a Labatt Blue Light, and chugged the contents with ease. After finishing it off, Allen looked at the camera and gave his signature wink.
According to Allen, he was caught holding his beer in the wrong hand. It’s part of a game that he has played–likely with teammates–where if you are caught holding a beer in the wrong hand someone can say “Buffalo” which forces you to down the remainder of the can. Someone texted Allen with the message and he followed through with the rules.
As you can see, that wasn’t a problem for Allen.
The bromance with Stefon Diggs is real
Bills fans in the chat begged Allen to call Stefon Diggs throughout the stream. After mentioning that Diggs was probably busy, Allen finally caved and made a FaceTime call to his No. 1 receiver. In what should come as a surprise to no one, Diggs answered almost immediately.
The bromance is for real.
Not an Anchor Bar or Duff’s man
Anchor Bar or Duff’s? Those are the most famous establishments in Buffalo, but that doesn’t mean they are the best. When one person in the chat asked Allen to choose between the two wing joints, Allen was quick to give an alternate answer.
Plays Fortnite as Josh Allen
Josh Allen played in the Fortnite tournament as… well, Josh Allen.
In the words of Tom Haverford of Parks and Recreation, “That’s a baller move!”
Won $7,500 for charity
Allen and his team, TEAM2K, did not walk away with the $250,000 first place prize. The squad ended up in 29th place in the Streamer Bowl II but walked away with $7,500 for charity.
