Coral Buddies
Epic
A new week of Fortnite challenges are live for week 6 of season 5, and for once, they do have a very specific theme threaded through all of them. They all involve fishing, and they all involve…explosives, for the most part.
Here’s the list of challenges for this week, which will have you fishing, but also blowing up a whole lot of fishing stuff.
- Blow up Fishing Holes at Sharky Shell, Sweaty Sands or Flopper Pond (0/3)
- Destroy Motorboats (0/3)
- Blow up Fishing Holes at Lazy Lake Island, Lake Canoe and near Steamy Stacks (0/3)
- Catch Fish (0/7)
- Signal the Coral Buddies (0/1)
- Destroy Boats (0/7)
- Destroy Fishing Rod Barrels (0/7)
So, essentially the game wants you to go to six different fishing locations, catch some fish, and then below everything up. Blowing up Fishing Holes at Sharky Shell, Sweaty Sands, Flopper Pond, Lazy Lake Island, Lake Canoe and Steamy Stacks are probably best done by lobbing grenades at them, so make sure to secure those before you arrive there.

The game also wants us to blow up motorboats, which can be done in a similar fashion, but also with bullets and hacking if that’s easier. The boast should mostly be by these fishing locations in the first place, but anywhere there’s water, you’ll usually find a boat not that far away. I am still trying to figure out why there are two separate boat challenges listed, as that seems like overkill, and one requires a lot more than the other. Not sure if that’s an error, or the game really wants us to blow up ten boats across two challenges.
MORE FOR YOU
You also need to actually catch fish before you do all the exploding, but after you do that, you need to destroy fishing rod barrels.
Finally, there is a non destructive quest where you need to signal our old friends the Coral Buddies. I assume that is going to be up by their castle, but we should have a full guide for that one up soon enough here.
It’s a strange week to be sure, as I’m not sure what happened in the world where suddenly the game wants us to destroy a bunch of fishing related stuff, but maybe Epic just got bored when coming up with themes for challenge lists, and here we are. Not sure how this relates to the “hunt” either, but who knows. Anyway, see you out there.
