Not much has changed at the top of this week’s Xbox Gameplay Chart. The two Call of Duty games reign supreme, followed by the familiar names we see each week: Fortnite, GTA V, Rocket League, Minecraft, and so on. Further down, the chart is where things get more interesting. There’s a bit of movement in the top 20 and, thanks to Xbox Game Pass, Control and Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition have both found their way on to our table.
Here is the top 40 Xbox Gameplay Chart for the week ending December 6th, 2020.
Outside of the top ten, we see Red Dead Redemption 2 with a nice bump up the table from 20th into 14th. This was likely down to new content coming to Red Dead Online and Red Dead Online launching as a standalone game for just $4.99. Red Dead Online standalone is tied to Red Dead Redemption 2 much in the same way Warzone is tied to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
For the first time, Control has made it into our Gameplay Chart. Remedy Entertainment’s supernatural action game came to Xbox Game Pass last week, and it seems plenty of Xbox players have been exploring the bewildering mysteries the Oldest House has to offer. Similarly, Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition launched straight into Xbox Game Pass and the turn-based RPG has settled in at 29th place. It will be interesting to see what sort of staying power these two games have. Single-player games tend to start off strong in our Gameplay Chart, but unless they receive regular updates then they slowly slip down the table as weeks go by — Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is starting its descent already.
Moving towards the bottom, Fallout 76 has jumped up three places into 30th place, which was probably down to the launch of the Steel Dawn DLC, and For Honor has seen a small resurgence, re-entering our chart in 38th place. The most dramatic fall goes to Forza Motorsport 7 which has dropped a whopping 10 places and is just managing to stay in the top 40 in 39th position.
This week we have arguably the biggest game launch of the year, Cyberpunk 2077, and the likes of Unto the End and Call of the Sea launching straight into Xbox Game Pass. We are expecting Cyberpunk to feature near the top of our table, but what do you think? Do you think CD Projekt Red’s next RPG epic could take the top spot? Let us know in the comments below.
