Rocket League Kickoff Event Debuts Friday Night on Twitch – Columbia University Athletics

Columbia Athletics will host its first esports competition Friday night on its new Twitch channel, as three current members and one alumnus of the football program go head-to-head in a 2v2 Round Robin-style Rocket League Tournament.
 
The event begins at 8 p.m. ET on Twitch. You can follow the Lions and watch the stream on Twitch by visiting Twitch.TV/GoColumbiaLions.
 
The night will feature football alumnus Daniel DeLorenzi ’20CC, senior Josh Wainwright, senior Ogonna Oraedu and sophomore Jayden Rolle. All four participants will pair up with one another for three best-of-three series. The participants with the two best records after all three series are completed will advance to a 1v1 finale.
 
Columbia Athletics will be giving away a $20 Grubhub gift card, as well as two $20 gift cards to the Lions Store during Friday night’s stream. To be eligible for the giveaway, all you have to do is follow the Columbia Athletics Twitch Channel and be ready to claim your prize by responding in the chat if you are chosen. All winners will be announced during the stream.

Friday night’s stream is the first of the esports variety on Columbia’s Twitch channel. The athletics department plans to host more esports streams the remainder of the fall semester. Any student-athlete who is interested in being featured on the channel can fill out this Google Form. A representative of the athletics department will follow up with any student-athlete who fills out the form.
