Penn State’s intramural sports are back! Well…kind of.
Penn State will 11 different activities for the fall season. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, virtual competitions such as Words With Friends 2, FIFA 20, and Fortnite will make a return after a successful inaugural season last spring.
Gamers will also be able to test their skills in NHL 20, Hearthstone, Rocket League, and Overwatch. Most leagues are available both on Playstation 4 and Xbox, and you can look up information for specific games here.
Additionally, three sports — bocce ball, cornhole, and tennis — will be held in-person for the first fall season, which will last from September 21 through October 9.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, tennis will only feature singles, with four different divisions for fraternities, men, women, and masters.
Penn State will also offer four trivia events throughout the fall semester. The events will be streamed on Penn State Campus Rec’s Twitch page, with the first competition slated for 7 p.m. on September 2.
Registration for all esports will close at 11:59 p.m. on September 3, while bocce ball, cornhole, and tennis registration will close at 5 p.m. on September 17. You can find more information on the IM League website.
