Surprise Parks and Rec adds Esports leagues – Your Valley

Surprise Parks & Recreation Users has had to reschedule or cancel many of its programs due to the ongoing pandemic.

However, the department has worked to find alternative programming. Last week the department announced it is offering an Esports program.

The city teamed up with Bravous Esports for this upcoming fall, and will be offering tournaments in games such as Rocket League (7-16 year-olds), Fortnite (7-16 year-olds), Madden Football (7 years and up), and Super Smash Bros (7-16 year-olds).

Participants must have their own gaming system and game in which they are participating. They will also need a Discord account which can be done at www.discord.com

Sign up for a tournament at https://bit.ly/3gEEA7K. The first game offered will be Rocket League on Friday, Aug. 28, and will feature a parent information meeting at 6 p.m. Aug. 26.
