Epic Games, the company behind the blockbuster videogame “Fortnite,” has raised $1.78 billion in the latest round of investment, including a previously disclosed $250 million investment from Sony Corp.

The investment round, which comes as videogame companies’ fortunes are being fueled by a surge in demand amid social restrictions to help curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, brings the company’s equity valuation to about $17.3 billion, Epic said.
