By throwing in the towel all you are doing is increasing your team’s discontent.
If you spent as much time thinking about when you can forfeit as you did about your rotations and weak ass clears then we wouldn’t be in this predicament.
The more damaging aspect here is that if the vote doesn’t succeed you’ll soon find your weak-willed teammate driving around in circles or just sitting in the net not doing a damned thing.
If you’re really lucky you might even get the teammate that attempts to crash into you the rest of the match. If the forfeit feature didn’t exist we wouldn’t be having these problems.
Go Ahead and Leave
If you want to leave a ranked game that’s your prerogative but you should be slapped in the face. With no forfeit option available the only other options are to either fake a network disconnect (you’re not fooling anyone) or straight up quit.
I say, leave, but pay the consequences!
Players that leave and give up should be slapped with appropriate ban times. With no option left but to fully quit the match, this should thin out those with the weak will to win for a little while. Players such as this shouldn’t be allowed to run from game to game. They should sit in a corner and think about their bad choices for a little while. I sure as hell don’t want to play with them and I don’t think you want to either.
Now, this should probably be more severe than the current ban timings but that’s a topic for a different day.
Psyonix Please
The Rocket League forfeit mechanic has got to go. It’s rarely how it should be used and the majority of the time it just makes things worse. If you’re reading this and you don’t agree do us all a favor and just leave the next match you want to forfeit. We won’t miss you and we’ll likely have a higher chance of winning now that you’re gone.
Even though my nearly 500 hours playing Rocket League barely scratches the skill ceiling it’s enough to know when there’s a problem. The problem is that you’re allowed to forfeit.
