You might see a spinning umbrella in the upper-right corner of Fortnite‘s welcome screen, and when you highlight it, you see the text “Build A Brella.” That’s how you build your umbrella. Well, that was easy — or was it?
Even if you see the Build A Brella option, you can’t start crafting your very own gravity-defying parasol just yet. First, you need to buy this season’s battle pass. Once you have shelled out the necessary 950 V-Bucks, you can make your way through the pass to earn different umbrella unlocks. You don’t earn parts but instead sections to customize. For example, you can’t change your umbrella’s bottom cap until you reach level 75 in the pass. But, once you have unlocked every slot, you can mix and match pieces to make the perfect umbrella. Almost.
You see, Build A Brella carries a dark secret that can single handedly ruin your enjoyment: You can only make one umbrella. As soon as you lock in your decoration of choice, there’s no going back. So, you have to ask yourself: Do you really want to stare at a tiny Durr Burger head atop a steering wheel, medieval mace, and spatula for the rest of the Fortnite season?
