Now, more information has leaked regarding the beginning of the new season. A Fortnite data miner called TheBriteFuture has discovered that rift beacons could be making a return to the battle royale on June 11, the delayed Seaosn 3 release date.
Fortnite players will remember rift beacons from Season X, in which the machines had the ability to change the map in the middle of a game. The rift beacons also played a huge role in the meteor crashing into the map, which marked the end of Chapter 1.
It’s unknown what the rift beacons might be used for in Season 3. It’s possible they will simply return in the same vein as Season X, changing the map during games. One other popular theory is that the rift beacons will redesign the entire map during The Device, the special event leading into Season 3 which will take place on June 6 at 2 p.m. ET.
