This day in Fortnite history: Reboot Vans introduced – FortniteINTEL

One year ago, on April 10, 2019, the Reboot Van came to Fortnite for the very first time.

Fortnite has gone through several changes over the last 2+ years since it came out. This game has, arguably, evolved more than any other game in history.

Anyone who played Fortnite during the early days knows that no one was predicting the things that players can do, today. An average player in 2020 would run through almost every pro player from early 2018, which is one of the reasons so many players stick with Fortnite.

On April 5, Epic announced the Reboot Van for the first time. Five days later, it came to the game in the v8.30 patch.

Most players know what the Reboot Van does and where it came from. This was one of the innovations of Apex Legends, which has now become the standard across all Battle Royales.

It’s funny to think that it’s only been a year of playing with Reboot Vans. It seems unthinkable to die at the beginning of a match and have to watch your friends play for another 20 minutes.

It was very clear that Fortnite borrowed this idea from Apex Legends, but that’s not a bad thing. Epic are open to good ideas when they see them, even if another game has done it first.

Epic’s willingness to implement popular and positive changes from other battle royale titles is exciting when looking toward the future. What will Fortnite take from Warzone? Will the success of this new BR lead to a money system in Fortnite?

What about the Gulag? Will we have a chance to revive ourselves after we get eliminated? There was a lot of innovation in Warzone, and a few of these ideas could work in Fortnite.

Epic have the ability to take ideas from other games and make them wholly their own. In the ever-evolving Fortnite, we can only wonder what will be next.
