Fortnite: The console vs mobile debate – Fortnite Tracker

It’s a well-established fact that PC gamers have an advantage over those on other platforms, but now some console players are complaining about competing against mobile users.

When Epic Games announced that Duos FNCS would run on two separate tracks; one for PC and one for console and mobile, the community couldn’t agree on whether the equal prize pool split was fair. Console and mobile players were delighted to finally have a chance to compete for real money, but those on PC argued that the majority of the prizing should go to the very best players.

Now though, a new wave of controversy is surfacing. Certain console users are saying that mobile players have an unfair advantage over them. The reasoning is that on certain high-end devices, like the newer iPad Pro model, it is possible to achieve up to 120 fps. Fortnite mobile also offers a range of customisation options that help to optimise their gameplay.

As someone who spent the majority of my time playing Fortnite on PS4, console players should be more than happy to have a separate tournament from PC. The fact that some people are suggesting that mobile should form a third category for FNCS is crazy, and I don’t think anyone would be pleased with an even further stretched prize pool.

At the moment the console versus mobile debate is more of a meme amongst the community than anything else. However, if it persists, it has the potential to join topics like “keyboard and mouse vs controller” and “Is aim assist fair” in the never ending Fortnite arguments hall of fame.
