Fortnite made this Maya challenge a whole lot easier – FortniteINTEL

Epic adjusted the Fortnite Week 3 Maya Boots challenge to make it much easier for players.

The Fortnite Week 3 Maya Boot challenge required players to earn five Gold Battle Medals by getting eight eliminations in a match.

Snagging eight eliminations wasn’t as easy as it was before the implementation of skill-based matchmaking. It’s become far more difficult to walk away with a five-kill Solo win than it was a couple of seasons ago – and this won’t even meet the requirements.

Regardless, most players dropped into Team Rumble, assuming that they could easily complete the challenge there. Much to our surprise, the challenge wasn’t working in Team Rumble.

So, for the past few days, we had to try our best to get eight kills in a match in order to unlock Maya’s Boots – a customization option that’s one of the least noticeable out of all of them.

Today, March 10, Epic announced that they would be changing the requirements for Maya’s Boots. Instead of getting eight kills, you now only have to get one kill in a match. It still doesn’t work in Team Rumble, however.

Obviously, this will be much easier to complete than getting eight kills in five different matches. The shift makes sense for a customization option as insignificant as the boots.

Personally, I like the idea of making one of these customizations more difficult than the others. I’ve already gotten eight kills in two different matches, and would undoubtedly reach the threshold in the next few days. It would have felt rewarding when I finally unlocked the boots.

Keeping a few customization options behind a skill wall isn’t a bad thing – but the boots weren’t the hill to die on. It would be a better idea to add customization options for players who rank highly in Arena, but we’ve seen no indication of this so far.
