Several Fortnite controller players have noticed that aim assist now follows enemies through walls.
Just when you thought the Fortnite aim assist debate was played out, Epic adds another wrinkle to the issue. Over the weekend, a few Fortnite controller players noticed that aim assist seems to be even more powerful than before.
The most noteworthy examples of this new feature come from Fortnite controller pros Crr and Letshe. Crr posted about the aim assist “bug” on Twitter. He immediately requested a fix, assuming that Epic added this by mistake.
Several other controller players replied to Crr’s tweet, agreeing that they had noticed the issue as well. Nearly all – controller players and keyboard and mouse players alike – agreed that it was completely broken.
RBK LeftEye tweeted a clip a couple of days after Crr exposed the issue. It showed Atlantis pro Letshe tracking opponents through structures. He was stunned as he told his chat, “Chat, I have aim assist through metal walls!”
Both of these players use Legacy aim assist, which is also known as the ‘L2 spam’ version of the setting. It’s unclear if Linear and Exponential players have the same benefit.
The term ‘controller aimbot’ gets thrown around pretty liberally in the Fortnite community, but it’s tough to argue with this one. Hopefully, Epic will address the problem in an upcoming patch.
