It’s a gnome! I haven’t seen this little guys for a long time, though they used to be a staple of the weekly challenges. We had hidden gnomes, hungry gnomes, frozen gnomes and so on: they always felt like a kind of reference to Fortnite’s original aesthetic as a kind of twisted, violent suburbia. Regardless, they’re back in interesting form for these Chapter 2, Season 1 overtime challenges, hiding out as part of “search between” challenges, something we also haven’t seen for a long time. There are going to be at least three, two today in the surprise, possibly accidental drop of two full missions on one day, and one in an upcoming set. Let’s get to it: read on for a map, guide and location for where to search the gnome hidden between fancy view, a wooden shack and a big house.

It’s an interesting search between because two of the items are far from unique on the map: there are big houses and wooden shacks all over the place. To orient ourselves, we’re going to look at Fancy View. It’s on the Western edge of the map, a little bit south of Sweaty Sands.

From there, the big house and wooden shack are all pretty close to each other. Here’s the area that we’re looking at:

And here’s the same area zoomed in a little bit. You can clearly note Fancy View, the big house and the wooden shack:

You’re going to want to search in that green field in the middle of the three items to see the gnome. You won’t be able to find the thing until you’ve unlocked the challenge at the bottom of the list, so don’t go looking right away. I’m plugging away at the moment to get down there on both of these lists, so I can verify this as soon as possible. But these are clearly the three objects we’re searching between, and they’re clustered tightly enough that there isn’t a lot of leeway for where to look.

A lot to do in the world of Fortnite today, but hopefully this doesn’t mean two weeks without challenges. We’ll see.
