Two new Rift Beacons have appeared on Fortnite’s sprawling map. Typically, just one Rift Beacon has appeared at a time this season. Apparently things are starting to ramp up, as the game’s map continues to change at an even more rapid pace.

The first of these Rift Beacons has appeared at Paradise Palms. Perhaps the long-awaited change to Moisty Mires is upon us. We thought that’s what was going to happen when the Rift Beacon appeared further south, but instead that area turned into Pandora from Borderlands 3.

The second Rift Beacon has appeared on the frozen lake above Greasy Grove. Will the ice melt, restoring that location to its former . . . well, not glory. That’s definitely not the word I’d use. If only the lake melts, the rest of the Snow Biome should remain intact.

At this point, neither Rift Beacon has been activated. Typically these activate the day before a patch or content update, which means these will both light up next Monday. Then again, with two Rift Beacons this time around, things might happen differently.

Previous Rift Zones include:

 • Loot Lake, which has been in a zero gravity field since the start of Season 10.
 • Dusty Depot, also from the first week.
 • Tilted Town in week 2.
 • Retail Row in week 3.
 • Pandora in week 4.
 • The floating island in week 5.

Somehow this will all come to a head by the end of the season. Everyone thought a new map might happen for Season 10, which obviously didn’t pan out. Instead we’re getting random changes, some of which hearken back to old locations (like Retail Row) with a twist, some of which are entirely new like Tilted Town.

Perhaps the new map will still come, when the CUBE and the rift orb collide and destroy everything. Season 11 with an entirely new map would be pretty great.
